I am so excited to be introducing Easy Street Foundation to you. First, let me say, THERE IS NO EASY STREET. If there was one, then I would be on it. I know that raising a child with Asperger's is difficult, tiring, and frustrating a lot of the time. I also know that it is the most rewarding type of parenting there is. I say, "It's easy to raise a smart kid, it's really hard to have to teach social cues to them as well."
Easy Street Foundation is the brain child of... me. My son, who has been diagnosed with ASD, is now going to be 20. Though I have looked and researched countless hours looking for sources, I found that there is really nothing in cyber world out there now that he is older. Yes, there are a few; but much research and helpful hints are way past my sons growing years. So, I am stuck with how to help my son navigate towards independence.
Like I mentioned, there are resources available for ASD and autism, most are geared toward the severally disabled. My son is not like that. He is a young man, who despite his intelligence, is not ready to be on his own and I am not sure how to help him. Because of this I have decided to develop a networking system for parents like me.
I know I am not alone. Will you help me and other parents find our way so we can help our wonderful ASD children become productive independent people?
Isn't that every parents wish? We want our child to happy and healthy. The rest we can deal with in time.
Well, with Easy StreetFoundation, this is the rest!
Join me on this adventure!!!
